Al-Talwīhāt al-Lawhiyyah wa al-‘Arshiyyah, is a seminal work composed by Shahāb al-Dīn al-Suhrawardī (549-587/1154-1191), known as master of illumination (Shaykh al-Ishrāq). Ibn Kammūnah, ‘Izz al-dawlah Sa‘d b. Mansūr Baghdādī (d. 683/1284) a philosopher contemporary with Nasīr al-Dīn Tūsī is the first one to have written a commentary on it. Ibn Kammūnah in his Sharh al-Talwīhāt, drawing upon the whole knowledge of his time and benefiting from other Suhrawardī's works, has admirably managed to explain complexities of the work. It is also an invaluable work in highlighting the views of Shaykh al-Ishrāq as well as clarifying Ibn Sīnā's positions in al-Shifā' and al-Ishārāt wa al-Tanbīhāt. This commentary is arranged in three volumes. The book has been edited by Dr. Najaf Qoli Habibi and published by the Written Heritage Research Centre in 2009.
