-Al-Yamīnī, by Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Jabbār ‘Utbī (d. 427 AH / 1035-6 AD), is an account of the events of the reign of the Ghaznavid Sultan Sabuktagīn and his son Sultan Mahmūd in Arabic in which there are also references to the reigns of Mahmūd's sons, Sultan Muhammad and Sultan Mas‘ūd. The work also includes a great deal of literary and historical information.
Al-Yamīnī consists of four chapters: the author's preface; an account of the reign of the Abū Mansūr Sabuktagīn; an account of the reign of Sultan Yamīn al-Dawlah; an account of the reign of Abū al-Hasan Baghawī, the Fir‘awn of Bawn. The erudite editor has corrected and furnished the book with scholarly introduction and various indexes on the basis of five manuscripts kept in Iran and abroad.
