The treatise was written by Musa Ibn Muhammad Qazīzadah Rumī ( ca.1365-1437 AD) and was edited by Fateme Savadi. It is the 6th treatise published by the Written Heritage Research Centre.
Al-Kashī's novel method for the determination of the Sine of one degree, is one of the most significant contributions to the mathematics of the Islamic period. He explained this method in Risalat al-Watar wa al-jayb (treatise on the chord and the Sine), but unfortunately no manuscript of this work have yet been found. Inaccessibility of this treatise, on the one hand, and Ulugh Biyg's claim on the invention of an exact method for the determination of the Sine of one degree, in his Gurkanī zīj, on the other hand, have caused to uncertainty about the quality of al-Kashī and Ulugh Biyg's methods. Fortunately Qazīzadah Rumī, al-Kashī's friend and colleague in Ulugh Biyg's Observatory in Samarkand, compiled a treatise entitled Risalah fī Istikhraj jayb Darajah Wahidah (treatise on the determination of the Sine of one degree) on the basis of al-Kashī's Risalat al-watar wa al-jayb and provided a detailed commentary on al-Kashī's method. This treatise is extant in several manuscripts. This research is to distinguish al-kashī's method from Qazīzadah and Ulugh Biyg's ones based on Risalah fī Istikhraj jayb Darajah Wahidah and other related works.
